What Can You Do with a White Baby Crib?: Home Décor Ideas for Baby

A white baby crib can be extremely versatile when decorating your baby’s bedroom. If you plan to reuse the crib for future children or hand it down to others in your family who are expecting, then a white baby crib is an excellent choice. Regardless of whether the baby is a boy or girl, white goes with any décor choice! Baby blue, pastel pink, and white are all complimentary. That doesn’t mean you have to stick with a bland white baby crib. Instead, you can add a few small accents that will really dress up the look and make it more personal to your little one.

Add a Name

Some parents insist they are not very creative and can’t do anything with a paint brush. While this may be the case, stencils are very easy to use and clean up. You can really personalize your little one’s white baby crib by adding his or her name stenciled on the side. A visit to your local craft store will present a number of possible fonts in stencil. Find something playful and fun. Some even incorporate animal or baby themed shapes into the package, so feel free to use these as well.

Consider also purchasing a sponge or sponge brush (a wedge ended flat sponge on a small wooden handle), which should also be available at the craft store. Some people find sponge painting easier than brush painting with stencils, and they add a nice texture. Also keep in mind you do not have to go with blue or pink, you can also choose red, yellow, green, purple or any color you like! Find one that matches the rest of the bedroom and make the white baby crib look as though it was a part of a set!

Add a Canopy

If you have a white baby crib that comes with posts, or an entire canopy, then you have even more options available. Some of these have fabric covers that could be changed out or altered. You can add a length of fabric in another color to create a contrast. If you prefer, drape lengths of a light fabric down along the outside of each post. This makes an extremely elegant, regal look to almost any white baby crib. Make it more dramatic by adding two different fabric colors along each post.

You can also add accents such as a string of stars or vines to the canopy. Always make sure that anything you add will not fall into the baby’s sleeping area. These could become hazards should they wrap around your little one. Make sure everything is secure and avoid a lot of little pieces when adding accents. This will reduce the likeliness of something falling in.

Three Dimensional Wooden Pieces

With some heavy duty wood glue or all purpose glue, you can add three dimensional wood embellishments to any solid side on your white baby crib. If necessary, paint the accent prior to attaching it. This will avoid messes and keep it looking professional. These come in all shapes, ideally find ones that have a flat back so they fit flush against the crib side. With a little thought and some creativity, you can make any white baby crib look like a designer model!
